Vol. 524 No. 5

Written Answers. - Adult Literacy Services.

Question:

521 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science the services available to help a dyslexic young adult (details supplied) to learn to read and write in view of the fact that the services were not available in school. [23231/00]

The City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee provides a range of adult literacy services, including support for people with dyslexia. In addition, education and training programmes are provided for early school leavers and unemployed adults.

If contact is made with the VEC arrangements can be made to assess and address the needs of the person concerned.
