Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Nursing Staff.

Seán Barrett

Question:

204 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Health and Children if, in view of the fact that his Department is now providing funding for the EB nurse based at Our Lady's Hospital, Dublin 12, he will extend the funding to cover the costs of an EB liaison nurse service for the growing body of teenagers transferring from this children's hospital to St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8. [24128/00]

Responsibility for the provision of services at St. James's Hospital now rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. However, I understand that a proposal has been furnished to the chief executive officer of the hospital by the consultant dermatologist with an interest in this area, regarding provision of this service at the hospital. It is a matter for the hospital to prioritise its own staffing requirements for discussion between the hospital and the authority in the context of their service requirements for 2001.
