Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Michael Creed

Question:

225 Mr. Creed asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if, further to the reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 170 and 172 of 24 October 2000, consideration is being given by her Department to extending the eligibility criteria for community employment schemes to men who are registered on the homemaker scheme by the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs. [23945/00]

Further to my reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 170 and 172 of 24 October 2000, I confirm that the Employment Equality Act, 1998, prohibits discrimination in employment on grounds of gender and, therefore, any extension of eligibility criteria considered for the community employment programme will apply equally to men and women.
