227 Mr. Perry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress she has made regarding the introduction of legislation on the regulation of financial institutions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23948/00]
Discussions have taken place between officials of my Department and of the Department of Finance and the matter is now being considered by myself and the Minister for Finance. When the outstanding issues have been settled, the Minister for Finance and I will bring proposals to Government for consideration and decision.
Following the Government's decision, I would expect that any legislation required for the establishment of the authority would be promoted by the Minister for Finance.
