Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Motor Insurance.

Denis Naughten

Question:

244 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when the report of the motor insurance advisory committee will be published; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24801/00]

The main objective of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board, which I re-established in 1998, is to examine the contributory factors to the cost of motor insurance in Ireland and also, to examine possible initiatives towards reducing premiums. I am satisfied that the board is fulfilling that mandate, but needs more time to examine and analyse the complex data concerned.

The board's final report will, as in the past, be published.
