Question:

290 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Defence if he will detail, from the time of the present Dáil, the financial penalties imposed on the Government resulting from the failure of his Department to comply with EU directives; and the legal proceedings that are now pending by the EU as a result of the failure of his Department to comply with EU directives. [24136/00]

Contracts are placed by my Department in accordance, as necessary, with the European Union directives. No penalties have, therefore, been inposed on the Government, nor are legal proceedings pending as a result of non-compliance by my Department with these directives.
