Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Animal Health Report.

Dan Neville

Question:

309 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the current position with regard to the final report on the Askeaton/Ballysteen, County Limerick, animal health problem. [23984/00]

This investigation has been co-ordinated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which is also charged with formulating the final report. I am advised by the EPA that the report is still under preparation and that its finalisation has been delayed owing to pressure of other work in some of the agencies involved in its completion. My Department has substantially completed its input. I understand that the EPA expects to make the final report available in the first quarter of 2001. It should be noted that three interim reports have been published and these contain the results of a large proportion of the measurements and observations made during the course of the investigations.
