Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Denis Naughten

Question:

328 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the status of the Irish REP scheme proposals which are awaiting approval; when these proposals will be approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24197/00]

Ireland's CAP Rural Development Plan 2000-2006, which covers REPS, early retirement, compensatory allowances and forestry, was approved by the European Commission on 28 September. Following a process of consultation with the farming organisations, the scheme documentation is now at printing stage and the new REPS will be opened to applications within a few weeks.
