Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

334 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a REP scheme appeal will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [24444/00]

Following a compliance inspection on his farm, the person named was notified recently of the imposition of a penalty of 100% for removal of field boundaries. This is a serious breach of the REP scheme conditions.

He has appealed the decision and his appeal is being considered by my Department's local office at present. He will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible. Should this initial appeal be unsuccessful, he will be notified that he may still lodge an appeal with the national appeals committee and he will be notified of the procedure to be followed when doing so.
