Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Urban Renewal Schemes.

John Bruton

Question:

390 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if commercial properties will be eligible for section 23 or similar tax relief under the town renewal scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24266/00]

Section 23 relief has always only applied under the various urban renewal type schemes to qualifying expenditure for rented residential accommodation and not to premises to be used as commercial premises. Qualifying expenditure under these schemes for commercial premises may qualify for the appropriate capital allowances.
