Question:

438 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of admissions to psychiatric hospitals in each health board area per 100,000 population. [23857/00]

Provisional figures for the 1999 Irish Psychiatric Services activities report, currently being pre pared by the health research board, indicate that the number of admissions to psychiatric hospitals and acute psychiatric units in general hospitals in each health board area in 1999 was as follows:

These figures represent a slight reduction on those reported in the Irish Psychiatric Services activities report for 1998 where the number of admissions was 25,165 and the rate per 100,000 population was 933.8.
