Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John McGuinness

Question:

671 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 201 of 19 April 2000 the national rural water monitoring committee has examined the level of grant assistance to be offered to group sewerage schemes; if he will review the scheme with a view to making greater financial assistance available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24208/00]

The examination of group sewerage scheme grants by the national rural water monitoring committee is ongoing and I will consider the matter further as soon as the committee's report is to hand.

Question No. 672 taken with Question No. 651.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

673 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the schemes submitted by each local authority in County Monaghan as part of their assessment of needs for water and sewerage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24268/00]

A copy of the response received from Monaghan County Council in April 2000 to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prepare a prioritised list of projects based on the assessments is being forwarded to the Deputy. The assessment covers the county as a whole.

Jim Higgins

Question:

674 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason that the water services investment programme for the years 2000 to 2002, published by his Department, did not include either Knock Airport, County Mayo water supply or Knock Airport, County Mayo sewerage scheme even though both were included in the investment pro gramme assessments of needs as adopted by Mayo County Council in September 1999. [24455/00]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 382 of 24 October 2000.

Michael Ring

Question:

675 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will provide funding for the provision of a new fire station in Westport, County Mayo. [24456/00]

Michael Ring

Question:

676 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the fire stations that were allocated funding from his Department in 1999, giving details of the amounts allocated; the fire stations that were approved for capital investment under the building programme in 1999; and where the Westport station is placed on the list of projects for a new station. [24457/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 675 and 676 together.
