781 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of women appointed as judges in each of the courts since July 1997; the date of each appointment; and the location of each court in which each of the women are serving. [23959/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 780 and 781 together.

As the Deputy is aware these appointments are a matter of public record, but, for ease of reference, the following is a list of women judges serving on all the courts together with their appointment dates and the court on which they are currently serving:

For the Deputy's additional information, Judge Fidelma Macken was appointed to the High Court on 9 December 1998 but subsequently resigned on 5 October 1999 to take up a Government nomination as a judge of the Court of Justice of the European Communities, the first woman to be appointed to that court.
