Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

John McGuinness

Question:

784 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of a visa application for a person (details supplied); and if his Department can expedite the application. [24053/00]

The visa application in question has recently been refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicant would observe the conditions of a study visa. The application in question did not comply with my Department's student visa guidelines in that the applicant proposed to participate in a part-time publicly funded course of education and had not displayed sufficient evidence of obligations to return home following her stay or of resources to support herself while studying here. It is open to the applicant to appeal the refusal of a visa by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department.
