Question:821 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the status of a grant allocated to a group (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will assure them that the grant money is still available. [24321/00]
Following the public advertising of the sports capital programme for 2000, 1,650 applications were received, including an application from the organisation in question. All the applications were assessed in accordance with the assessment criteria outlined in the guidelines, terms and conditions governing the programme. Following this assessment, allocations were made to 677 applicants, including the group in question. This is additional to the grant allocated to this group in 1998 which is still to be drawn down. The group subsequently wrote to my Department on 4 October 2000 requesting permission to change the purpose for which both grants were allocated, due to extenuating circumstances. This was agreed to in principle on 5 October 2000 and my Department is still awaiting further details from the organisation in question so that the grant can be confirmed.
