Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Teaching Qualifications.

Ivan Yates

Question:

823 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education and Science if a full year's incremental credit will be given to a post-primary teacher under the VEC system for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact that she satisfies the three relevant conditions, as set out in the Conciliation Council for Teachers. [25147/00]

Brendan Howlin

Question:

910 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who was employed as a teacher by an organisation in France for the full 1984/1985 academic year and has produced documentary evidence to that effect, has been given only eight months incremental credit for this service; if he will review this decision and award a full year's incremental credit to the person in question; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24615/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 823 and 910 together.

My Department awards incremental credit, subject to certain limits, to whole-time teachers for previous full-time remunerated teaching service, given in a fully qualified capacity, in State inspected schools outside Ireland.

The application submitted by the teacher in question indicated that full-time remunerated service was given from 1 October 1984 to 1 June 1985 and incremental credit was granted in respect of that service.

The teacher in question is not eligible for additional credit in respect of that service.
