Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Billy Kelleher

Question:

826 Mr. Kelleher asked the Minister for Education and Science if a 12 classroom extension will go ahead at Riverstown national school, Glanmire, County Cork, as one tender rather than the present announcement of eight classrooms with a potential of four extra rooms added at a latter stage as the present proposal will fall short of providing adequate space for the projected increase in the pupil attendance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23917/00]

While architectural planning for 12 additional classrooms at Riverstown national school, Glanmire, County Cork, is under way at present my Department will have to be satisfied, prior to tender stage, that the pupil enrolments at the school will warrant the provision of these additional classrooms.

This matter will be kept under review during the planning process and the school authorities will be informed of developments.

Austin Deasy

Question:

827 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science the present position regarding the provision of a new secondary school at Ring, Dungarvan, County Waterford, on foot of proposals put to him by the Waterford Vocational Educational Committee. [23918/00]

A stage 3 report, developed sketch scheme, in respect of the new vocational school at Ring, County Waterford, was received in August 2000 from County Waterford vocational education committee. Following examination of this report by my Department's building unit a number of amendments were considered necessary.

The revised stage 3 submission has been received in my Department and the matter is being examined further with a view of progressing this project to stage 4, detailed design.
