Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Question:

856 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to correspondence (details supplied), the person concerned will be assisted in every way possible in relation to her result in the oral SCG; and if a reply will be forthcoming. [24010/00]

In response to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 301 and 405 in April of this year, I indicated that my Department had written to the person referred to by the Deputy on 22 March. In this letter my Department offered to make an inspector available to meet with the person to offer advice on any aspect of the oral Irish examination and to make available the examiner's notes of the October examination. A response to that letter is still awaited by my Department. Should this person wish to meet with the inspector they should contact primary administration section 1 of my Department in Athlone in order to arrange a suitable date and venue for such a meeting.

The delay in responding to the correspondence referred to by the Deputy is regretted and was due to an oversight. A reply to the correspondence is now being prepared and will issue very shortly.
