189 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when it is intended to implement the provisions in the national development plan in relation to grant aid for horticultural processing facilities; if EU approval has been sought for such a scheme; and if he will expedite the introduction of this, in view of the delays incurred to date. Under the productive sector operational programme, capital investment grants will be available in the horticulture sector towards the provision of processing facilities, as well as additional and improved storage, grading, packing and related facilities. A capital grants scheme for investment in horticultural production will be available under the regional operational programmes.
EU approval for both measures as State aids has been sought and when this is received implementation of the measures will commence.
