Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John Perry

Question:

198 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if he will intervene with the Civil Service Commission on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have her offered employment in Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25184/00]

The person concerned has entered for a competition for vacancies advertised as being primarily in the Dublin area. The Civil Service Commission is currently processing her application but, should her application be successful, it does not expect to be in a position to offer her an assignment to Sligo. If she takes up duty in the Civil Service, she may apply for consideration for transfer to Sligo at a later stage under the central transfer scheme.

Question:

199 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) and have her offered employment in Sligo in view of the fact that she is a former civil servant and for family reasons is finding it diffi cult to relocate to Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25185/00]

The person in question has recently been assigned to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs as the result of a competition advertised as being for vacancies primarily in the Dublin area. That Department is not in a position to offer her an appointment to Sligo but expects to offer her an appointment to Dublin. If she takes up duty in Dublin, she may apply for consideration for transfer to Sligo at a later stage whenever her placing on the relevant transfer list is reached.

Ivan Yates

Question:

200 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance further to his visit to Kilrush, County Clare, and the submission he received concerning decentralisation, the progress made in designating this town and area as one of priority in any future decentralisation programme; and the steps he has taken through his Department or other Departments to seek a suitable office or service for consideration of decentralisation to this area that requires economic regeneration; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25186/00]

The town of Kilrush is one of many throughout the country from which submissions have been made or on behalf of which representations or inquiries have been made. All will be considered for inclusion in the new programme of decentralisation in the context of the Government's forthcoming deliberations on the issue.
