Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Noel Ahern

Question:

233 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health and Children to give details of the numbers and length of time waiting on the Mater hospital waiting list for by-pass operations; the way in which the numbers being operated on compares to the past four years; the reason the hospital cannot give an accurate assessment of the expected delay in relation to a person (details supplied) who was told eight months ago that he would have his by-pass in two months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25243/00]

The responsibility for the provision of services at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital now rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate this matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
