294 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of houses his Department anticipates will be built by local authorities and the voluntary housing groups respectively in 2000; and the way in which this relates to the targets set by his Department. [24963/00]

I expect local authorities will build or acquire approaching 4,000 houses in 2000 and I expect voluntary housing groups to provide close to 1,000 units of accommodation during the year. These estimates are in line with targets set by my Department.
