Written Answers. - Electoral Code.
The general scheme of an Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 2000, was approved by Government on the 27 June 2000. The Bill will provide for various amendments to the electoral code including provision for the inclusion of photographs and party logos on ballot papers, electronic voting and counting and the introduction of a system of disclosure of donations and expenditure for directly elected mayors and cathaoirligh. It is hoped to publish the Bill by the end of this year.
