Question:

335 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the road accident and fatalities statistics for 2000 relative to 1998 and 1999. [25019/00]

Details of road accidents are set out in the report, Road Accident Facts, which is published annually by the National Roads Authority. The most recent report is in respect of 1998 and is available in the Oireachtas Library.

Provisional data for 1999 shows that road deaths for the year were down by 10% by com parison with 1998. Road deaths for the first ten months of 2000 stood at some 4% below the corresponding total for 1999.
