Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Housing Organisation Funding.

Ivan Yates

Question:

351 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the current financial plight of Threshold in Dublin; and if he will support its request for a one off grant of £800,000 in order to secure its premises in Dublin which would guarantee the future of its services, in view of the importance of its work in the housing sector. [25100/00]

I have received a request from Threshold for a one off grant of £800,000 for the purchase of premises.

My Department provides grant assistance to voluntary bodies for their general and administrative expenses and Threshold received an allocation of £150,000 in 2000. Its request for an additional one off grant will be considered in the light of available resources and the competing and priority demands for such funds.
