Question:

407 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation with regard to the school extension for Scoil Chonglais, Baltinglass, County Wicklow; and when building work will commence on the site. [25144/00]

A Stage 5 submission encompassing a bill of quantities has been received in my Department in respect of the proposed extension to Scoil Chonglais. When the assessment of this stage has been completed within my Department and if found to be in order, the issue of inviting tenders will be addressed.

408 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation with regard to the school extension for Arklow community college; and when building work will commence on the site. [25145/00]

A proposed extension project at Arklow Community College is progressing through architectural planning.

A meeting involving County Wicklow Vocational Education Committee, its design team and officials of my Department was recently held to discuss the stage 1, site suitability, submission. Arising from that meeting, the vocational education committees design team was instructed to prepare a stage 2, outline sketch scheme, report.

At this early stage of architectural planning it is not possible to indicate when this project is likely to go to construction.

409 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation with regard to the school extension for Carnew community school, County Wicklow; and when building work will commence on the site. [25146/00]

A proposed extension project at Carnew community college is progressing through architectural planning.

In August 2000, County Wicklow vocational education committee was authorised to instruct its design team to submit additional information in relation to the stage 2 submission, outline sketch scheme, in advance of submitting a stage 3 report, developed sketch scheme. The stage 3 report is currently awaited.

At this early stage of architectural planning it is not possible to indicate when this project is likely to go to construction.
