Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cross-Departmental Team on Housing.

Billy Timmins

Question:

130 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the workplan and terms of reference for the new cross-departmental team on housing which has been established to report regularly to the Cabinet committee on infrastructure; the chairperson of the team; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19752/00]

The cross-departmental team on housing was established to secure an appropriate expansion of housing supply in line with the National Development Plan, 2000-2006, and the further Government measures contained in Action on Housing. The main focus of the team is currently on the implementation of the various Government measures set out in Action on Housing and with a particular emphasis on identifying and addressing constraints or bottlenecks to securing maximum housing output in the short and medium term. The team is chaired by the Secretary General of my Department with representation by senior officials of my Department and the Departments of the Taoiseach, Finance, Education and Science, Enterprise Trade and Employment and Public Enterprise. The team has met on three occasions to date and presented its first progress report to the Cabinet committee on infrastructure on 26 October.
