Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Grants Scheme.

Seán Barrett

Question:

146 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there are any circumstances that would authorise a local authority to deal with an application for a disabled person's grant which is received after work has commenced on an extension; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is refusing to deal with an application from a person (details supplied) in County Dublin on these grounds. [23440/00]

The administration of the disabled person's grants scheme and decisions on individual applications are the responsibility of the relevant local authority, in this instance Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. My Department's involvement relates primarily to the recoupment of a proportion of local authority expenditure on the payment of individual grants.

Question No. 147 taken with Question No. 110.
