Written Answers. - Eircom Park Development.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

182 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Defence the way in which his Department is objecting to the development of Eircom Park. [25135/00]

My Department lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála on 13 October 2000, against the decision made by South Dublin County Council dated 14 September 2000, to grant permission for the development of an area at Gibbons and Fortunestown, Tallaght, Dublin 24. The Department requested that planning permission should be refused for the following reasons:

(f2>a) The proposed development is contrary to the Department of Defence revised safety policy on Casement Aerodrome and

(f2>b) The applicant has not demonstrated that the proposed development would not pose an unacceptable risk to air safety at Casement Aerodrome.
