Vol. 525 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Austin Currie

Question:

151 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has reached a decision on the future development of primary and secondary education in the Lucan area, County Dublin, following the study on these issues by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25313/00]

At my Department's request, two sites have been reserved in the Adamstown area, one for a primary school and the other for a post primary school, to meet anticipated need in the area. A further site for a primary school has been reserved in the Griffeen-Foxborough area.

As soon as details of the extent and pace of housing development and projected population growth are obtained from South Dublin County Council and examined in my Department, a decision will be made on the need for additional primary and post primary provision in the area.
