Vol. 525 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Insurance.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

87 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he will raise the threshold for payment of K contributions to PRSI recipients as set out by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25338/00]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the health contribution of 2% when he refers to class K contributions to PRSI.

The low income threshold for the health contribution, below which the levy is not payable, is currently £14,560 per annum or £280 per week. Any increase in this threshold will be considered in the context of the forthcoming budget.
