Vol. 526 No. 2

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

139 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science the reasons a national school (details supplied) in a disadvantaged area of Dublin 22 has not yet been provided with a psychological assessment service for the past three years in view of considerable documentary evidence of problems with a significant number of pupils and the expenditure of scarce financial resources to provide private assessments for these pupils; and if he will confirm the earliest inclusion of the school in question in his Department's service. [26114/00]

Due to an unforeseen career break, the level of service provided by the National Educational Psychological Service to the school named by the Deputy was not maintained in recent times. However, I am happy to inform the Deputy that a replacement psychologist has now been assigned to the school and, following discussions with the principal, will be in a position to provide a service to the school.
