Vol. 526 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Paul Bradford

Question:

140 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position of the proposed purchase of a site for the new community college, Buttevant, County Cork. [26187/00]

It is planned to construct a new community college in Buttevant, County Cork, under the aegis of County Cork Vocational Education Committee. The acquisition of a suitable site is now being pursued.

A number of sites have now been identified and my Department's planning and building unit has sought a valuation of one particular site from the Valuation Office. Upon receipt of this report and subject to agreement being reached with the vendor, it is hoped that my Department will be in a position to give County Cork Vocational Education Committee approval to acquire the site for the proposed new community college.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

141 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science when psychological assessment will be offered in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare in respect of his son (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26218/00]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the school which this boy is attending will have the services of the National Educational Psychological Service, NEPS, in the very near future. A psychologist from NEPS will shortly be contacting the principal of the school to arrange to visit the school to discuss this case with the teachers and the parents.
