Question:

40 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received an application for increased funding from the Irish Sports Council; the level of increase sought; if he will grant the increase; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25948/00]

The Irish Sports Council submitted a request for an increase of £1.37 million in its annual operating budget for 2001, as part of the annual Estimates process, and the 2001 Exchequer provision for the work of the council is being examined and considered in that context.
