Vol. 526 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sports Funding.

David Stanton

Question:

50 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received a request from Cobh Urban District Council for grant aid to enable the council to construct a swimming pool in Cobh, County Cork; the projected costs and finance already in place; if he will make such grant aid available before the end of 2000; if not, when he will make aid available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25856/00]

The contract documents for the proposed new swimming pool in Cobh have been examined by our technical advisers and are under consideration by my Department. The total cost is estimated at £4.3 million and the council is seeking a grant of up to 80% of the eligible cost of the project. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when a grant will be allocated to this project, as grants are not allocated until such time as tenders have been received.
