Vol. 526 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

68 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when suckler cow, beef headage, and sheep headage payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26123/00]

The area aid application submitted by the person named includes parcels which are part of a commonage on which a cumulative overclaim has arisen. The area aid unit is currently seeking to clarify the correct entitlements to area aid on this commonage. It is hoped to have this exercise completed shortly. No payments can issue until this problem has been resolved.

John Perry

Question:

69 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) and approve his area aid application in view of the medical evidence provided; if he will make a favourable decision in view of the extenuating circumstances that exist within the family; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26124/00]

The person named submitted his 2000 area aid in October 2000 which was almost six months after the closing date for receipt of area aid applications. Under EU regulations late area aid applications can only be accepted in cases which can be considered as force majeure, for example, where illness or other unforeseen circumstances outside the control of the applicant prevents him/her from submitting an application form before the closing date.

If the person named wishes to have the matter re-examined in the light of his medical circum stances, he should make a formal request to the area aid unit accompanied by an original copy of any supporting medical evidence.

Michael Creed

Question:

70 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive the 1998 suckler cow premium. [26125/00]

The person named has established an entitlement to premium on 32 animals under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme. However, a 3% late area-aid penalty will apply. Arrangements are in place to issue a payment for £4,352.74 within the next seven days.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

71 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in the making of a REPS payment to a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and if he will state when payment might be expected. [26126/00]

The application from the person named has been chosen at random for a pre-payment compliance inspection. It is expected that this inspection will take place within the next ten days. If the inspection proves to be satisfactory payment should issue shortly thereafter.
