243 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for treatment for his prostate problem in view of the fact that he has been on the waiting list for four years; and the number of times this person has been scheduled for treatment only to have the appointment cancelled due to a shortage of beds. [26285/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and reply directly to the Deputy.

244 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called to the orthopaedic clinic in County Galway in view of the fact that she is in severe pain and has been on pain killers since 14 September 2000. [26286/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy.
