250 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay of up to six months or more in the provision of MRI scans to patients in Galway; if he has any plans to shorten the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26346/00]

The provision of medical services in Galway is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to the issue raised and reply directly to the Deputy.
