Vol. 526 No. 5

Written Answers. - Compensation Payments.

John Perry

Question:

61 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Sligo lost almost his entire herd of cattle in a lightning storm in August 2000; if he will provide compensation for the animals listed in view of the fact that this person's livelihood has been totally wiped out as a result of this devastating storm; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27155/00]

It is not the policy of my Department to provide compensation in isolated cases of weather related losses.
