Question:

158 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science when a special classroom assistant will be appointed in the case of a person (details supplied) who attends Scoil Na Mainstreach, Celbridge, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28155/00]

My Department has received an application for child care support from the school for the pupil in question. My Department's inspectorate is currently investigating the special edu cational needs of pupils attending the school, including the child referred to by the Deputy. On receipt of the inspector's report officials in my Department will be in contact with the school authorities.
