Vol. 527 No. 2

Written Answers. - DIRT Exemption.

Michael Bell

Question:

37 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance if he is considering extending the proposed DIRT exemption offered to credit unions to other financial institutions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27985/00]

As I have already stated in reply to parliamentary questions concerning my meetings with the Irish League of Credit Unions in October this year, the discussions that took place then may form the basis of an agreement for new taxation arrangements for the credit union movement. I have received a response from the league and I am considering the matter in the context of the budget. I cannot comment further on the matter at this stage.
