Vol. 528 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Question:

265 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position regarding the purchase of a school facility (details supplied) in Dublin 8; the use to which this facility will be put if purchased by the Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30092/00]

My Department has approved a request from the Dublin Institute of Technology to purchase the school in question from the Dublin Catholic Diocesan Office.

The Deputy will be aware of the need to provide additional facilities for apprentices, particularly in the Dublin region. It is intended that this additional accommodation will enable Dublin Institute of Technology to respond to the urgent demand for additional electrical apprenticeship blocks.

The sale of these premises to the Dublin Institute of Technology is expected to be finalised shortly.
