Vol. 528 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Pat Carey

Question:

89 Mr. P. Carey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment whether she would be prepared to recommend funding for the Consumers' Association of Ireland; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this association is the only national consumer association in the member states of the EU which does not receive funding from its national government; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [29955/00]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the Consumers' Association of Ireland received funding in the budget to the sum of £50,000 per annum over the next three years to assist the association with its running costs.
