Vol. 528 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

116 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a REP scheme appeal will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [29941/00]

The person named had been notified of the imposition of penalties amounting to 130%, including one penalty of 100% for removing field boundaries which is a serious breach of the REP scheme conditions.

A REPS participant on whom a penalty is imposed has a right of appeal in the first instance to the appropriate local office of my Department and subsequently to the national appeals committee. The person named has exercised his right of appeal to the local office. A decision has been taken and formal notification of the outcome is now issuing to the applicant.
