187 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if his Department will take on six acres of plantation for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo following the closure of the planting firm (details supplied) responsible for these mature trees. [1246/01]

The area in question is ineligible for grant assistance as planting has already taken place without the prior approval of my Department.

In any event I understand the area has been planted with Christmas trees, which are specifically excluded from grant aid.
