Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Job Initiative.

Michael Bell

Question:

340 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the consultations his Department has had with a company (details supplied) in relation to the decision to transfer much needed jobs out of the town of Drogheda, County Louth; the financial incentives that have been granted by his Department or the IDA to transfer these jobs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2193/01]

My Department has not had any discussions with the company in question concerning the transfer of jobs from its plant in Drogheda, nor has any financial assistance been made available by my Department or the IDA for such purpose. My understanding is that there is no question of transferring production from Drogheda to any other location in Ireland.

My information is that the company has advised the IDA that it adjusts production in its various plants globally in line with market needs and operating efficiencies and any change in production in its Drogheda plant during the coming year will be made solely for these reasons.
