Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

367 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received sheep headage for 2000. [1197/01]

Under the 2000 sheep headage scheme the person named applied on 122 mountain ewes and 16 hoggets ewes. Payments under the 2000 sheep headage scheme including top-up in respect of 16 hogget ewes were made to the person named on 25 October 2000 and 20 December 2000.

Grants under the sheep headage scheme are based, inter alia, on the forage area and classification of grazings available in the disadvantaged area as indicated on an applicant's 2000 area aid form. As the person named applied on 122 mountain ewes and according to area aid records the forage area is classified as lowland grazings only he is not eligible for any payment on mountain ewes.
