Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

392 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when an outstanding ten month beef premium grant payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [1551/01]

The person named made an application for one animal under the 1999 special beef premium on 16 December 1999.

Under EU regulations governing the special beef premium scheme, a stocking density limit of two livestock units per hectare applies based on the forage area declared on an applicant's area aid application. The person named declared 13.60 forage hectares on his area aid application and therefore is entitled to payment on a maximum of 27.20 reckonable livestock units.

Reckonable livestock units consist of animals submitted by the applicant for special beef premium, suckler cow premium and ewe premium schemes together with notional livestock units derived from any milk quota held.

The person named had a milk quota of 26,766 gallons which equates to 29.83 livestock units (26,766 divided by the national average milk yield of 897 gallons ) and exceeds his full livestock unit entitlement of 27.20. Therefore no payment is due to the person named in respect of his 1999 special beef premium application. The person named did not submit a 2000 special beef premium application.
