Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

457 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that construction of emergency stormwater ponds and other water diversion works are undertaken in view of the recent floodings in the Lucan area in County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30567/00]

The construction of a stormwater pond in Griffeen Valley Park is a feature of the proposals by South Dublin County Council for the River Griffeen catchment management scheme which I understand is at an advanced stage of development with a view to getting on site later this year. The Office of Public Works has written to that council regarding the flooding incidences at Lucan, County Dublin, from the River Griffeen in order to determine what assistance might be offered to the local authority in this matter.
