Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Retirement Pension.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

478 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance when arrears of retirement pension will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1428/01]

Arrears of pension amounting to £30.30 will be paid on Thursday, 1 February 2001. The arrears cover the period 1 October 2000 to 18 January 2001 and represent an increase in pension per fortnight of £3.86. The new fortnightly rate of pension is £76.82 and will be paid from the same date as the arrears. This pension payment covers the period 19 January to 1 February.

The Paymaster General's office received the details of the new rate of pension from the Office of Public Works, former employer, on 28 November 2000. Due to a backlog of pension increase cases, it was not possible to apply this increase to pension until now. I regret any inconvenience caused.
